Kitchen appliances work hard without complaint—until suddenly one day they don’t. A few tiny maintenance habits can quietly extend their life and save you from mid-month breakdowns.
For the fridge, don’t stuff it completely full; air needs space to circulate. Clean door rubber gaskets now and then and make sure they seal properly. If the back coils are accessible, have them cleaned periodically—dusty coils make the fridge work harder.
Microwaves appreciate regular wiping inside, especially the ceiling area where splatters stick. Use a microwave-safe bowl of water with a bit of lemon, heat for a minute, then wipe—steam loosens grime easily.
For mixers and grinders, avoid overloading. Let hot stuff cool slightly before blending, and never run them for long continuous stretches beyond recommended time.
Chimneys need filter cleaning or service based on your cooking style—heavy frying means more frequent care. Ignoring them leads to sticky cabinets and weak suction.
Small things, done regularly, are much cheaper than replacing a burnt-out appliance or living without it for days while it’s in repair.
